Eliza Jennings Late President Hiller and Renaissance Resident Donley Recognized at LeadingAge Ohio Annual Conference

(Cleveland, Ohio) – Eliza Jennings is pleased to announce that LeadingAge Ohio, the statewide association for not-for-profit aging services organizations, has recognized Deborah Lewis Hiller, late president and CEO, and Marjorie Donley, Eliza Jennings Renaissance Retirement Campus resident, for their significant contributions to Eliza Jennings, and for enriching the quality of life of older adults. Both awards were presented at the LeadingAge Ohio annual conference in Columbus earlier this month.

Visionary

Late President and CEO Deborah Lewis Hiller was honored with LeadingAge Ohio’s Visionary Leadership Award for her inspirational and extraordinary leadership of Eliza Jennings, as well as her contributions and impact on the field of aging services. Hiller strove to conquer ageism and to change the accepted paradigms surrounding the aging process. During the award presentation, she was recognized by LeadingAge Ohio as a renowned leader and innovator. Under her leadership, Eliza Jennings became “the first CARF-accredited provider in the United States, the first to bring SAIDO Learning to the United States, and among the first to introduce onsite health services in affordable housing.” Hiller was a long-time board member for LeadingAge Ohio and active in LeadingAge advocacy and governance efforts. She joined Eliza Jennings’ Board of trustees in 1983, and was appointed President and CEO in 1993. Hiller served in that role until her death in 2014.

Volunteer

Marjorie Donley, Eliza Jennings Renaissance Retirement Campus resident, was honored with LeadingAge Ohio’s Excellence in Volunteer Service Award. “Marjorie’s impact is easy to identify,” observed Adrienne Walsh, Chair of LeadingAge Ohio’s Recognition Council. “Marjorie volunteers throughout the campus while also recruiting, training, and coordinating other volunteers, inspiring a number of other residents to join in her efforts.” Ms. Donley has been a resident of The Renaissance since it opened in 1989. She has served in numerous volunteer capacities throughout the years, including leadership roles within the Renaissance Resident Association.

LeadingAge Ohio is a nonprofit organization that represents approximately 400 nonprofit long-term care organizations located in more than 150 Ohio towns and cities, as well as those providing ancillary health care and housing services.
