Jennifer M. Griveas

Jennifer Griveas is responsible for assuring the protection of the legal interests of Eliza Jennings by providing counsel on all legal issues related to staff, communities and programs. As a member of the senior management team, Ms. Griveas is involved with establishing and implementing strategic goals from a legal perspective. Ms. Griveas not only renders legal advice personally and through staff or outside legal experts, but she understands the business implications of any legal action or inaction. As General Counsel she also provides oversight to the organization’s compliance and risk management functions. Ms. Griveas additionally leads the development of the company’s human resource strategy, and serves as senior advisor on human resource management matters including best practices, regulatory compliance, benefits programs, recruitment & retention, and compensation and performance management systems.
Ms. Griveas’ background includes litigation and employment counseling for corporate and nonprofit clients. Prior to joining Eliza Jennings in 2011, she practiced law at Frantz Ward LLP in the firm’s labor and employment and litigation groups. Ms. Griveas earned her Juris Doctor degree from Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from Kent State University, both degrees conferred cum laude. Ms. Griveas is certified in Health Care Compliance by the Health Care Compliance Certification Board. She is a member of the Ohio State and Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Associations, as well as the Association of Corporate Counsel. She was a member of the 2012 class of the Ohio State Bar Association’s Leadership Academy. Ms. Griveas is a member of SHRM, national and Cleveland chapters, the Health Care Compliance Association, and the Northeast Ohio Employer’s Counsel Roundtable. Ms. Griveas participates as a new lawyer mentor in the Supreme Court of Ohio’s Lawyer to Lawyer mentoring program, and also mentors law students through Cleveland-Marshall College of Law’s Externship Program. She is a member of LeadingAge Ohio, the state-wide organization for not-for-profit aging services providers, and contributes to the group’s advocacy efforts.
Ms. Griveas is a recipient of the First Chair Association’s Top General Counsel Award, a two-time recipient of the First Chair Rising Star Award, and was recognized in 2013 by the Cleveland Metropolitan Bar Association Women Honoring Women Award. She is a three-time Crain’s Cleveland Business General and In-house Counsel Awards finalist. She served as Executive Editor for Cleveland State Law Review and was the recipient of the Law Review’s 2003-2004 Executive Editor of the Year Award.
